The first round of TECH STEPS has been completed by many of the teachers. The others are very close to being finished! YEA!!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!

I have/I can:
1. I have put a Digitial Divide Survey in your mailboxes. Please complete this and return it to me by Wednesday the 6th. I need to enter this information into the Digital Divide part of the 5 Year Plan. The plan is due on October 15th.
2. I have printed off Tech Steps scoring sheets and have loaded all the students at Roanoke. I can do this for Alum Bridge, but I need each teachers individual log in information. Please email me the information if you would like for me to put your kids in for you.
3. Most teachers have completed their first tech steps lessons. I can be there with you for the remaining lessons, but I can't teach them for you. I can be there to assist in technical issues and to help keep your kids on track. Also, I emailed Judi about doing tech steps lessons out of order from the mapping, and she said that you need to follow the mapping. Let me know if I can assist you with the other tech steps lessons.
4. I can teach lessons to you and your students using the various Microsoft Office programs so that when you start the techSteps projects it is not so new.
5. I can locate and organize online resources on our Edline page so that the term "Internet Research" is not so scary. Please let me know how I can be of more help. (Though try to be specific...the phrase "I need help with everything" doesn't give us a starting point.)

**I want to be an active part of each of your classrooms. Please let me know how I can help you incorporate technology in your daily lessons.

Weekly Update:
I have reported our problem with Type to Learn at both schools. I have trouble tickets in for each school. No word yet on the progress of those tickets.
The mobile lab at Roanoke is up and running. I want to bring the laptops into the classroom. Please let me know if I can be of assistance in planning for the laptops. I have put in a work order for the mobile lab at Alum Bridge. Hopefully they will be there to fix it soon.

Tech Stars:
Mr. Carder from Alum Bridge for letting me move his classroom around to make room for the whiteboard cart. I know it is back to the originial way now, but it is a step in the right direction!
Joyce Marsh at Alum Bridge for putting her students in Odyssey and for completing her first tech step and the online scoring to go along with the lesson.
Mrs. Snyder and Mrs. Taylor from Roanoke for working on their edline pages. Way to go!
Mrs. Cochran from Roanoke for using a digital camera during her science lesson on butterflies and for using IXL reports.

Trainings: I have scheduled a training on the 19th of October at Roanoke for IXL Math. The time is from 4:00-6:00. I am still waiting for approval from the BOE. I will need to have 10 in attendance to have the training even if it is approved. I will keep you updated.

If you feel a training is needed on something, let me know and I will start the paperwork on getting the training set up.

Contact: If you have any questions, or want to schedule a time for me to come to your classrooms, you can email me at ssjames@access.k12.wv.us.

  1. Sonja and Mrs. White are working on a tech step project entitled, "Who Am I?" Kudos goes to the both teachers for working very hard to complete the first tech step.
